Tesla recalls million vehicles due to finger pinching issue in windows.
Due to a safety issue with automatic windows that could result in someone's fingers being pinched, Tesla is recalling close to 1.1 million of its vehicles.
According to the NHTSA, a window that closes improperly can apply too much force by pinching a driver or passenger before withdrawing, increasing the risk of harm.
Tesla notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Wednesday to let them know that the automatic window reversing system would receive an over-the-air software upgrade.
This includes some 2017-2022 Model 3, 2020-2021 Model Y, and 2021-2022 Model S and Model X vehicles.
Tesla owners will be receiving update alert on their app and vehicle screen, and this will be handled as a software bug.
A visit to shop or dealer would not be required for this fix.
As Tesla reported they found the problem during production testing previous month. They will notify the owners via letter in coming days.
The vehicles in production and pre-delivery vehicles has already received the fix.
